My name’s Thijs. I started nbtg.dev in June of 2023. I had been developing black & white film for a while but wanted to get started with developing ECN-2 color negatives by myself without going through the hassle of shipping a single roll to the lab every time. My journey into color film started smack dab in the middle of the supply crisis of 2022, and the only stocked and affordable stocks were cans of respooled Vision3 (shout-out to Analog Amsterdam), which I instantly fell in love with for its cinematic qualities.
Unable to find any affordable ECN-2 developers, I stumbled upon Kodak’s documentation for the ECN-2 process. This meant I could formulate it myself from bulk chemicals, and so it happened. I started NBTG to both develop cine negatives for people like me who like its low-contrasty results and can’t find a lab that does ECN-2, and to sell the Kodak formulations at a low price for everyone to enjoy.
In the future, you can (probably) expect C-41 color and E-6 slide processing, as well as supplies for RA-4 printing!
