Replacement front surface mirror for 35mm Nikon Coolscans

I have new high-quality optical first surface mirrors for use in 35mm Coolscans. If your scans suffer from low contrast, blotchiness, lines or anything else which looks off chance is that your mirror is dirty or degraded. Cleaning it is hard. They scratch easily, as did mine.Even if it’s clean as a whistle, scratches will degrade the scan image. Coolscans haven’t been made since 2004, and Nikon stopped providing spare parts for them around 2010. That aside, they’re the best scanners you can get if you’re looking for home development hands down. I even use a V ED in the lab for the high-res scan options!

These mirrors measure 24x20x3mm. They’re made with a 94%+ reflective aluminium coating like the originals, and sealed with blue protective tape to protect them during shipping. Mirror replacement is fairly easy, you can find instructions on how to reach the mirror here (for 40/4000 and 50/5000; not sure how it works with the 20 or 30). It’s a 10-minute job: pop it open, remove the old mirror, drop in the new one, and continue scanning. The difference is day and night if your Coolscan mirror was dirty before.
